How to prepare a useful VFX brief

The practical details that help a studio estimate, plan and deliver with confidence.

A clear brief helps a production partner understand the creative intent and practical constraints.

Start with the story. What should the audience feel or understand? Include visual references and describe what you want to preserve.

Share the plates. Frame rate, resolution, camera data and color pipeline all affect planning. A short sample is often enough for a first conversation.

List the outputs. Identify shot count, formats, aspect ratios, versions, review dates and final delivery dates.

Be open about constraints. Budget ranges and schedule windows help everyone propose a workable scope.
